Photograph of Anne RyderAs a television journalist, writer and speaker, she began her broadcasting career as a reporter at WLFI-TV, Lafayette and reporter, weather and news anchor at WTHI-TV, Terre Haute in the early 1980’s before joining WTHR-TV in Indianapolis. She reported from war zones around the world, from Bosnia to the Kosovo-Albanian refugee camps, and interviewed peacemakers, including the Dalai Lama and Mother Teresa. She was the only American reporter in more than a decade to be granted a sit-down interview with Mother Teresa. She created and produced “Hope to Tell” and “In an Instant, “ stories of hope, faith and resilience of the spirit. She earned 15 regional Emmy Awards and five national honors, including two Edward R. Murrow awards. A medical emergency prompted her to step away from her television anchor job after 25 years; however, she remains an active community volunteer.
