Native of the town of Speedway, IN, Charlie Brockman worked sports for both WXLW and WIRE during his early career. He was a member of the Speedway radio network, conducting winner interviews from 1954 to 1959. In the 1960’s he was sports director for Channel 13 and also worked on ABC’s “Wide World of Sports.” and anchored coverage of the 1965 Indianapolis 500. He was president of the United States Auto Club from 1969-1972. Brockman died January 19, 2005.
