A native
of Indianapolis, John Carl Jeffrey moved to Kokomo in 1941 as sales manager of WKMO Radio. He resigned after 6 years and organized WIOU Radio, Kokomo, in 1948. Jeffrey was the station’s vice president and general manager until retiring in 1972. During that tenure he was among the organizers of the Indiana Broadcasters Association and served a term as its president. He also served on the board of the National Association of Broadcasters. He died September 3, 1980, in Kokomo at age 77.
