Giles retired after serving WISH-TV of Indianapolis for 40 years, 35 of those years as News Director. During this time the average News Director’s tenure was considered about two years. His hires included Jane Pauley. Giles has been a nationally known and well-respected news professional. He has also been honored by the Radio & Television News Directors Association and the Indiana Journalism Hall of Fame. He served two years as president of the Indiana Broadcast Pioneers.
